Chatbot of the Future - Oracle Digital Assistant
What is a chatbot?
Have you ever interacted with a chatbot? Chances are you have, and you may not have realized it. Chatbots are used to manage messages from customers and send customers in the direction of a resource they might be interested in utilizing; helping with onboarding new employees; and more self-service activities.
What you need to know about chatbots
There are two frequently used types of chatbots: task-oriented chatbots, and data-driven predictive chatbots. Task-oriented, or declarative, chatbots are single-purpose and only focus on performing a single function. They generate conversational, but automated, responses to inquiries. They can respond to frequently asked questions such as a business's hours of operation, the main office phone number, and others that do not require a variety of variables.
Data-driven and predictive chatbots are often called digital assistants. They are highly advanced, interactive, and more personalized because they can respond to messages that are more contextual. They are predictive and can respond based on previous user behavior. They are also very intelligent and can learn a user's preferences over time and help respond in a way they would like. Examples of these types of chatbots are Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa.
